Business process
management (BPM) is defined in different ways. It is said that it helps
organizations to adapt to the needs and requirements of clients while dealing
with change and advancements in technology. It leads to meeting the goals of organization
effectively and efficiently. It is also called business optimization process. When
stress and change disrupts the proper functioning of an organization it
provides means to deal with it.
Business process
management goes through systematic phases. It can be linked with the traditional
management systems in this regard. But it is considered as a better alternative
for the traditional hierarchical management system to adjust with the changing
facets of technology.
While taking Business
process management from a managerial point of view, it can be said that the
processes of BPM are assets for an organization which should be understood and
improved in order to get more customer friendly products and services. Business
process management can be resembled with other approaches of management like:
- Total Quality Management
- Continuous Improvement Process
These approaches are
traditional and help business to cope with the change. BPM comes one step
forward and says that in times of change and stress managerial processes can be
more innovative and advanced with by using technology. Then an organization’s
capability for change can be viewed from a humanistic and technological
approach.
Business processes don’t
remain static they continue to change. There are different factors which can be
said as responsible for this change like government rules and regulations and changes
in the environment etc. This process of change requires an organization to
adjust itself with the environment. Business process management can be useful
to ensure proper functioning of organization while taking into account all the
factors.
Therefore if an
organization has to function properly in the changing environment then bpmn is
very effective.
